My Best Learning Experience
When I was a senior in high school I took an English class called "On the Town." The class focused on playwrights and storytelling on the stage and was my first real exposure to experiential learning. We would read and discuss plays, attend stage productions of the plays in DC, and then have a chance to speak with the director/actors/etc when they visited our class. We saw plays in large venues like the Arena Stage and smaller ones like Studio Theater on 14th street. It was a wonderful way to become immersed in the culture of the city and learn to take the analytical and critical thinking skills that were often only used in the classroom into the real world.
